Umpiring

As you can probably tell, umpiring has an important function in the organization of the tournament.

    A team of young umpires is trained before and during the tournament. This allows us to umpire each match starting with the qualification round in order that they run as smoothly as possible. This also permits the teaching of umpiring to young players and permits them to be familiarized with official rules of tennis. And finally this teaches an important thing :  respect.

    The umpires are organized during the entire tournament as well as during the training scheduled beforehand. We attempt to explain as well as possible their responsibilities, what their duties are once they enter the court but also the communications aspects in order that they be in a position to best manage difficult situations.

    Each day they are evaluated and each situation is reviewed in detail during 2 debriefings (one in the morning and one in the evening), thus allowing them to extend their understanding and, importantly, to exchange their experiences, i.e., to COMMUNICATE.
